PEGGY LOU (EDENS) CARNEY, 92, passed away at home on Monday, March 17, 2025.
Peggy was born in Mink Shoals, West Virginia, to Sylvia (Fogarty) Edens and Ulysses S. Edens on June 4, 1932. Peggy was a graduate of Stonewall Jackson High School, class of 1950, and Saint Francis School of Nursing, class of 1953, in Charleston, West Virginia. She married Frederick Bruce Carney on June 6, 1953. She was respected by her colleagues as a registered nurse during many years of service on the 4 South neurology unit at CAMC General Hospital in Charleston.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Fred, sister Pamela Lung of Florida and son-in-law Alan Abbott.
Peggy is survived by her siblings, Dorothy Bowyer of Saint Albans, David Edens of North Carolina, Donna Hebert of Kentucky, Sharon Fox of California and Debbie Richardson of Oregon; her three daughters, Cheryl (Rod) Myers of South Charleston, Cynthia (Daniel) Miller of Florida, Joyce Abbott of South Charleston, and her son, Bruce of South Charleston, who was her loving caregiver for many years; grandchildren, Samuel Myers, Angela (Eric) Haynes, Michael, Matthew and James Miller and Katherine (Greg) Miller Marcil; seven great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
Peggy lived a life full of friends and loved ones and enjoyed gardening and traveling.
The family wishes to thank Hospice Care for their invaluable assistance in Peggy's end-of-life care. Donations to Hubbard Hospice House, 1001 Curtis Price Way, Charleston, WV 25311, may be given in her name. The Carney family also wishes to thank Barlow Bonsall Funeral Home in Charleston for their assistance.
