SYMPOSIUM: West Virginia Nursery and Landscape Association hosts its winter symposium from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Feb. 18 at Embassy Suites Hotel, Charleston. A lineup of distinguished design speakers exploring the latest trends in horticulture, highlight up-and-coming shrubs and perennials, emphasize the importance of botanical names and provide insights to innovative, green roof design are featured. Jeff Butler and Mark Totten speak on the business side, while the association's board of directors discuss the updated Landscape Plants for West Virginia at the breakfast. Plant guides are also available. West Virginia University students studying horticulture and landscape design are also recognized as George W. Longaneker and Marcus W. LEADER: Alex Chaney, director of CRA film with Charles Ryan Associates of Putnam County, is one of 58 outstanding leaders from across West Virginia to be named to Leadership West Virginia in Charleston. He graduated from Marshall University, where he studied graphic design. A writer of music and lead singer for the band, A Story Told, began with CRA in 2016. He has worked on projects for all sorts of industries/clients, including his most frequent one -- Anthem -- one of the largest health care insurance companies in the country. He was selected for his demonstration of leadership, commitment to community service and passion for advancing the future of West Virginia. Congratulations Alex for being one on this list.
