Faith in Action of the Greater Kanawha Valley has announced that Missy Woolverton has been recognized for her volunteer service for senior citizens.
She has been named a 2025 Donald Owen and Katherine Horridge Smith National Volunteer of Excellence, and will be inducted into the National Gallery of Volunteer of Excellence by Aging Forward.
Woolverton has been an integral part of Faith in Action volunteer team, dedicating her time to supporting older adults through building lasting connections as a “phone friend” for several of the organization’s care receivers. Through her commitment she has helped mitigate the social isolation and loneliness that plagues some older adults in the area.
“We are thrilled to celebrate Missy for her incredible contributions,” said Jennifer Waggener, FIAGKV’s Executive Director. “Her dedication embodies the true spirit of volunteerism, and we are honored to see her efforts recognized at the national level.”
The National Gallery of Volunteer Excellence, presented by Aging Forward, highlights individuals who exemplify leadership, service, and a commitment to enhancing the lives of older adults. This marks the first year of the initiative under Aging Forward, continuing a long-standing tradition of recognizing volunteer excellence.
A national induction ceremony will be held in October 2025, where Woolverton will be celebrated for her achievement. For more information about the National Gallery of Volunteer Excellence or to learn how to get involved, visit faithinactiongkv.com or call 304-881-7253.
