Snow totals lower than expected for Charleston; schools still delay/close for Monday

Kanawha County Schools and districts in surrounding counties have changed their learning plans for Monday.

• Boone County: Closed

• Clay County: Closed

• Fayette County: Closed

• Kanawha County: Closed

• Lincoln County: 3-hour delay. Staff will report on a 2-hour delay with the exception of essential personnel, who will report one hour later.

• Nicholas County: Closed

• Putnam County: Closed

• Raleigh County: Closed

• Roane County: Non-traditional learning

Weather forecast

A winter storm warning remains in effect through 1 a.m. Tuesday for areas of West Virginia from Logan to Clarksburg, according to the National Weather Service in Charleston.

Total snow accumulations could be up to three inches in some areas.

Here’s a look at what’s ahead for the Charleston area:

• Monday: Mostly cloudy, high near 34, low around 20. 40% chance of snow.
• Tuesday: Partly sunny, high near 41, low around 34. 50% chance of rain late.
• Wednesday: Chance of rain in the morning, then mostly sunny. High of 53, low of 34.
• Thursday: Rain likely. High of 53, low of 31.
