TC Energy is moving its office to the site of the former CASCI building in downtown Charleston, company officials announced on Monday.
The company said the existing 110,000-square-foot former CASCI building will be demolished and replaced with a new building, with construction expected to be complete in 2025 with employees moving in by 2026.
"Since the 1950s, our Charleston employees have played a critical role in our operations to safely deliver the energy Americans need and demand every day," said Mike Damous in an emailed statement. Damous is director strategy and planning for the Charleston office of TC Energy. "This new office represents a continued investment in our dedicated team of people. We are proud to continue our presence in the community and look forward to contributing to a more vibrant downtown core.”

Remington Development Corp., a Canadian company, will develop the property into a four-story, 120,000-square-foot building. The building also includes an 18,000-square-foot annex with a loading dock and a 1,500-square-foot rooftop patio.
The building will be located closer to Virginia Street, and will face Kanawha Boulevard, East. There will be 124 parking spots on site.
In November, the Charleston Municipal Planning Commission approved a $65 million office building development between Kanawha Boulevard and Virginia Street on the site of CASCI building and an adjacent lot.
"TC Energy will move in 2026 and be the sole tenant in the new space," the company added in its email statement. "The building will be better suited for our needs for our 450 employees in the current office and offers a modern design, rooftop patio and ample parking at no cost to employees. It also includes an additional 20,000 square foot warehouse space."
Architects said in November a deal with the city would provide more parking in other locations. Other features include adding vegetation to the site and likely burying overhead power lines.

Charleston Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin reacted to the news on Monday.
“TC Energy has had a strong presence in Charleston since the 1950s and its employees continue to play a critical role in delivering energy throughout our country," said Shuler Goodwin in an email Monday. "The new $60 million facility, along with TC Energy’s move, will contribute to our local economy and help strengthen our community — further supporting our local restaurants, shops, and businesses.”
TC Energy is currently located in the historic Columbia Gas building, 1700MacCorkle Ave. SE, which the company said it leases. That building is now listed for sale by Vandalia Real Estate.
